Hey Fam, as usual, here are my notes from Pastor Adeboye’s sermon tonight.

Text: Ephesians 2:1-7

Man was originally created to be a high flyer. God gave him dominion over all the creatures Genesis 1:26-28

In Genesis 2, we see he was made extremely strong. We see that materially, he was a high flyer. Mentally, he was a high flyer. Maritally, spirituality, he was a high flyer, as he was wearing the glory of God.

In Genesis 3, we see sin come in and man came crashing down. When sin came, several other thing come in. Fear (1 John 4:18 – we see that fear has torment), Shame (suddenly they saw they where naked – Proverbs 3:35), Curses (both man and his wife were cursed – Numbers 22:1-6), Death (Genesis 4:8, we see the first recorded case of murder. Prior to this, there was no death. In Genesis 6:5-7, we see God regret creating man).

Sin is a killer. Don’t toil with sin. It can kill you physically, materially, mentally, maritally, it can kill your career and it can separate you from the Almighty God (kill you spiritually).

There was a promise in Genesis 3, when God spoke to the serpent and this promised was renewed in Luke 1:26-33 when God told Mary about the birth of our savior, Jesus. This promise was fulfilled on the cross – Galatians 3:13-14. Hebrews 2:14-15.

In John 14:19, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, we see that Jesus has taken away sin. Separation from God is now a thing of the past.

What does all these mean?

If you’re not a child of God, you can decide tonight to look up to Jesus Christ in faith and He will take your sin away and everything that comes with sin. John 1:29.

For those of us that are already children of God, we can fly out of obscurity, corruption, the company of sinners, a life of impurities. You can’t continue to live a life of sin – Ephesians 2:8-9. Romans 6:1-2, 19.

You have to make it clear to all around you that you’re no longer a slave to sin.

You have to show the whole world that according to 1 John 3:8-9, you belong to God so it’s goodbye to sin by your action and not just words. You show that 2 Corinthians 5:17 is true, that you’re radically different, a new creature. No more lies, exaggerating, stealing according to Ephesians 4. People must see that you’re different, completely different. Don’t steal a man’s time. Don’t sin when you get angry.

According to Philippians 3:7-11, it will cost you something to fly high. There a price to pay. We see in Daniel 1, he decided not to defile himself. He and his friends and by chapter 3, we see they got rewarded.

You must make up your mind that no going back! 2 Peter 2:20-22. You must not be ashamed of your identity. Let people call you a fanatic, don’t be bothered by it. Birds are not hidden.

You can’t be a true Christian and keep your mouth shut, you witness not only with your words but with your action.
