Yesterday, I had to go to the bank and it didn’t occur to check if the bank was closed and which branch would be open. I just assumed it would be. I got to the one closest to my house and found out it was closed.
It was already 3:50pm so i checked my GPS to find one that was open and even though I knew they were closing at 4pm, it would take me 10 minutes to get there.
The current pandemic has allowed for roads to be free so I just assumed I could get there in 8 or 9 minutes and run into the bank. I was going to do this because I didn’t want to leave my house today.
I asked God to help me get there on time but I didn’t bother to hear if I’d make it to the bank.
I had anticipated traffic lights but I didn’t think about other cars that would be on the road – the people driving. I would have made it at exactly 4pm but for this one car that was driving so slowly and i was almost at the turn into the bank and couldn’t overtake him.
I got there at 4:01pm, parked and ran in. I got to the entrance at 4:02pm and the door was already closed. There was a police officer who just pointed to the bank hours that was written on the door so I left the bank upset.
I got back home and after I had calmed down, I heard God speak;
“If you’re going to ask me for help, won’t you at least wait to hear from me.”
He reminded of David in 1 Samuel 30 verse 8; “And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all”.
He continued talking to me; “I don’t want you to just talk to Me and rush off, I want you to wait to hear from Me about whatever it is you’re talking to Me about so you don’t get upset and feel I didn’t help you because I ALWAYS want to help you.”
I’m sharing this so that the next time you pray, you don’t rush off. Please take a few minutes to journal your thoughts as God speaks to you.
