On the second episode of “The Candid Christian”, I share how I wasn’t happy with God because I felt He didn’t let me know I’d get my heart broken. I was upset because it was the last thing I needed in this season (so I thought) but trust my God to make beauty from ashes. Trust Him to work things out for my good because I love Him! This project was birth from that pain.
I speak to my sister Funmi Oluwole and two friends, Biola Adewale and Ronke Oni.
As promised, one of the scriptures this project is anchored in is Matthew 5 verse 14 -16 (The Message Translation);
“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
Back story, on Saturday July 31st, I woke up thinking “nobody really cares about faith based content” (this thought was definitely not from God), so I told the Lord, I couldn’t post the videos out of fear of no one caring and in that moment, the Holy Spirit brought Jesus’s “Sermon on the Mount” to mind.
Thanks to “The Chosen” (a series based on the life of Jesus), I have grown to love that sermon. I started reading through Matthew 5 and immediately I got to “Salt and Light“, my spirit caught that word and it was what I needed to share this project with you – especially verse 16 – ‘By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
I hope this project prompts you to be open with God. You can watch the full episode here
