In Paul’s letter to Philemon, he mentioned what Philemon was known for.
“I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of your faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints (God’s people).” – Philemon 1:4-5 AMP
If someone was going to write you or me a letter, will they start it this way?
If you’re struggling in this area, I can relate and it’s because we can’t even do it on our own. It’s the Holy Spirit that enables us to love.
“Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” – Romans 5:5 AMP
More than ever, I’m determined to draw strength from Him daily to enable me love God and others. After all, Jesus said it is THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT!
“And Jesus replied to him, “ ‘Y OU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘Y OU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22:37-40 AMP
