I’m re-reading Faith Oyedepo’s book on ‘Single with a Difference’ and Chapter 8 teaches on ‘making wise choices’. I’ll be sharing with you what I’ve learnt in two publications. This is the first.
Whatever choice we make, God respects. The devil has no option than to respect our choices. There’s no better time to learn how to choose wisely than during the single years.
Two things to bear in mind;
1. We live in a world of choices
2. You are a creature of choice
Deuteronomy 30:19 AMP reads;
“I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live”
God respects and honors the choices you make. He will not choose for you but rather validate your choices. God honored Adam’s choices of names for all animals in Genesis 2:19
“And out of the ground the Lord God formed every [wild] beast and living creature of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.”
Choice is God’s gift to man. The most significant choice is whether to fellowship with God or not.
Joshua 24:15 AMP reads
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Information is the platform for making life-transforming choices. Before you make your choice get necessary information on the subject matter from godly proven sources. Could be inform of books, magazines, tapes, CDs, a person and so on.
Wisdom is the principal ingredient in making wise choices. It is the correct application of knowledge.
Proverbs 4:7 AMP says
“The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). [James 1:5.]”
How do you acquire wisdom ?
1. Settle with Gods word.
Psalm 119:89 AMP says
“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [stands firm as the heavens]. [Ps. 89:2; Matt. 24:34, 35; I Pet. 1:25.]”
Psalm 119:98 AMP says
“You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for [Your words] are ever before me.”
So no matter how busy or tight your schedule is, let the word of wisdom dwell richly in you. You can never outgrow the need for the word of God. They are new every morning!
2. Ask the giver. James 1:5 AMP says
“If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.”
3. Be praiseful. Praise is an inspiration. When you praise God from your heart, you get inspired and revelation comes, then you gain access to light from heaven, showing you which way to go.
However you must be born again before you can access sound wisdom.
As you choose to honor God, He gets committed to honor you too. You have only yourself to blame for every single decision you make. Take advantage of God’s provision for sound choice making, your choices will be satisfying and valuable and you will never regret any of the choices you make.
