There are some newsletters you read and move on from.
And then there are others that stay with you, echoing quietly through your day, reshaping how you think, pause, breathe, and respond.
For me, The Passion Translation’s “I Hear His Whisper” newsletter is one of those sacred companions.
This week, one particular entry gently shifted my posture — not by demanding anything of me, but by inviting me to notice God as my day unfolded… second by second, moment by moment.
Slowing Down to Find God in the Passing Seconds
So often, we are trained to look for God in the big moments:
- breakthroughs
- answered prayers
- open doors
- visible victories
But this newsletter reminded me of something far quieter — and perhaps far deeper:
God is just as present in the in-between moments as He is in the miracles.
As each second of the day passes, God’s hand is not absent. He is not waiting for the “important” part of your day to show up. He is present now — in the pause between tasks, in the breath you take before replying a message, in the silent moment before your next decision.
“This Is the Day the Lord Has Made” — Revisited
One line that stayed with me this week was rooted in Psalm 118:24, beautifully rendered in The Passion Translation:
“This is the very day of the Lord that brings gladness and joy, filling our hearts with glee.”
Reading it alongside the newsletter reframed the verse for me. It’s not just about waking up and declaring joy.
It’s about recognizing that God authored this exact day — every hour, every interruption, every quiet stretch of time.
And if He made the day, then He is already present within it.
Learning to Look for God as the Day Goes By
What this newsletter has been teaching me is intentional awareness.
Not striving. Not over-spiritualizing. Not performing devotion.
Just asking gentle questions throughout the day like:
- Where is God inviting me to slow down right now?
- What is He revealing in this moment — even if it feels ordinary?
- Am I rushing past His presence because I’m focused on outcomes?
There is something profoundly grounding about choosing to look for God as the seconds pass, rather than waiting until the day is over to reflect on Him.
God Is Found in the Middle, Not Just the Margins
One of the most comforting reminders from the newsletter this week was this truth:
You don’t have to escape your day to find God. You simply have to notice Him within it.
God is present:
- in the conversation you didn’t plan
- in the delay that tests your patience
- in the stillness between responsibilities
- in the quiet nudge to pause and breathe
And when you begin to live with that awareness, your day becomes less about “getting through” and more about walking with Him through it.
A Gentle Invitation for Today
As I continue to read “I Hear His Whisper”, my prayer is becoming simpler:
Lord, help me see You — not just later, but now.
Not only in hindsight. Not only in testimony. But in real time, as the day unfolds.
If you’ve been feeling rushed, disconnected, or spiritually dry, maybe the invitation isn’t to do more — but to notice more.
Because God is already here. Already speaking. Already walking with you through this very moment.
